MLK
Perhaps the greatest orator ever, a personal hero, MLK is a man never to be forgotten. This section will address broad racism, failures in our culture to unify, and the good in people who want to unify.
Rev. Jesse Jackson
Imagine being thrown in jail for disorderly conduct, for refusing to leave a public library that only allowed white people. In 1960, Jesse Jackson and seven other individuals were arrested for refusing to leave a public library in Greenville, S.C.. It was a sit-in, a peaceful protest. Let's hope/pray, that the current widening division in this country, fueled by individuals/groups from ALL political parties, identifies how to unify and conquer hate, racism and bigotry.

Hate, Hate, Hate
According to FBI data, reported hate-crime incidents doubled between 2015 and 2024. Antiblack hate crime increased by 81%. Reported anti-Jewish hate crimes more than tripled. In 2024, roughly half of race-based hate crime was directed against black people and roughly two-thirds of religion-based hate crime targeted Jewish people. As philosopher Frantz Fanon once remarked, “The antisemite is inevitably a negrophobe.” The same hands that desecrate synagogues burn crosses.

Immigration & MLK
Recent ICE events in Minnesota and elsewhere in the U.S. are similar to the 1960's Civil Rights Movement efforts of Martin Luther King. Instead of men wearing white sheets over their heads and representing the KKK, we have men in camoflauge, with guns, masks and tear gas representing ICE. But Dr. MLK only promoted non-violence, where some immigration protestors are aggressive, spilling hate and anger in large portions onto peaceful streets. That is the wrong approach. Pro

MLK Day
We should all honor a man who respected all and fought for change through a non-violent approach. If he had continued living, MLK would have received the Nobel Peace Prize. Read his speeches and letters, and you will understand why God made him the "King" of equality, respect and unity. Remember; "Injustice anywhere, is a threat to justice everywhere", Letter from Birmingham Jail, 1963.
