Perhaps the greatest orator ever, a personal hero, MLK is a man never to be forgotten. This section will address broad racism, failures in our culture to unify, and the good in people who want to unify.
Imagine being thrown in jail for disorderly conduct, for refusing to leave a public library that only allowed white people. In 1960, Jesse Jackson and seven other individuals were arrested for refusing to leave a public library in Greenville, S.C.. It was a sit-in, a peaceful protest. Let's hope/pray, that the current widening division in this country, fueled by individuals/groups from ALL political parties, identifies how to unify and conquer hate, racism and bigotry.
According to FBI data, reported hate-crime incidents doubled between 2015 and 2024. Antiblack hate crime increased by 81%. Reported anti-Jewish hate crimes more than tripled. In 2024, roughly half of race-based hate crime was directed against black people and roughly two-thirds of religion-based hate crime targeted Jewish people. As philosopher Frantz Fanon once remarked, “The antisemite is inevitably a negrophobe.” The same hands that desecrate synagogues burn crosses.
