Hope & Pray

I hope and pray it's not too late

to right what's wrong and set things straight.

I hope we've learned from our mistakes

and gained some sense of what it takes

to end at last this retrograde

state of affairs, the mess we've made.

Then free at last to seek our fate,

let's turn around the ship of state,

advancing in a state of grace

for every creed and every race.
